- Increased insurance premiums and legal exposure
- Absenteeism and low morale with high staff burnout and turnover
- A workplace where people no longer feel safe or supported
Training all your staff in the SAFE CARE microcredential safeguards your team and your organisation by:
- Reducing legal and financial risk
- Improving retention, wellbeing, and productivity
- Building staff confidence to support one another and themselves
- Fostering a workplace culture where people feel safe, cared for, and connected
About the course
What is SAFE CARE?
SAFE CARE training combines practical mental health first aid skills with psychosocial hazard awareness. In this self-paced 2-hour course staff gain the confidence to support colleagues, the knowledge to meet compliance needs, and the capacity to create a psychologically safe workplace culture.
The SAFE & CARE Models
Our training is built around two proprietary tools: the SAFE guide and the CARE memory tool. Together, they simplify complex concepts into clear, actionable steps for staff at every level.
SAFE
The SAFE framework provides a straightforward, actionable way to give first aid for mental health. It equips staff to notice when a colleague may be struggling, approach with confidence, connect them to professional help, and provide ongoing informal support — all in a condensed format that is easy to understand and apply in everyday workplace situations.
CARE
The CARE memory tool makes psychosocial hazard awareness simple and practical. It helps staff to be aware of what psychosocial hazards are, understand how they can cause harm, and recognise the importance of reporting them so they can be properly managed. This condensed course focuses on awareness, while assessment and control are covered in the Advanced Program.
SAFE + CARE =
A Psychologically Safe Workplace
A workplace where mental health is supported, risks are reduced, and a psychologically safe culture thrives.
SAFE and CARE work together to address both sides of workplace mental health:
SAFE
Gives every employee the skills and confidence to provide first aid for mental health when a colleague is in distress.
CARE
Ensures staff understand psychosocial hazards, why they matter, and the importance of reporting them so they can be properly managed.
Together, they build more than awareness; they create a workplace where:
culture
Compliance isn’t just a box-tick, but a foundation for a stronger culture.
Support
Colleagues support each other with confidence and compassion. Everyone understands that psychosocial hazards matter and that reporting them is a vital step in preventing harm.
